Interior Designer Billy BesonBilly Beson, Cambria Quartz Countertops’ 2011 Fall Featured Designer, has a suggestion for your kitchen that may surprise you: red. Red works well as both a centerpiece and an accent by standing out from other colors. Red can serve wonderfully as a countertop, a prep island space or as fun way to brighten up a kitchen. Cambria offers a wide variety of red countertop options, from bright Cardigan Red to red-brown Burnbury and all are available at Construction Resources.

Beson points out that red is a trending color for kitchens because it attracts attention and is the color for stimulating the appetite. As the color with the strongest chroma, or intensity, red works wonders with traditionally neutral spaces like kitchens. Its ability to overpower other elements goes hand and hand with why it works as an alternative to the currently popular white, since both pop out of their surroundings. Red and white also work well together, as the white tempers the red and makes it stand out more, especially if it is a warm red (yellow or brown undertone). Consider a red counter surface with white appliances and the opposite.

Picking the right red for your home can be tricky. As the color of passion, it is natural that red specifically has very different feelings in varying degrees of light. Samples should be observed at different times during the day to make sure they are a good match for the space they are being used in. As it can be overpowering, make sure your use of red is sparing and it is supported by neutral colors, but don’t limit yourself to beige or taupe. Red works well with nearly all woods, metals, many stones and shades of gray.

Red can also be used to great effect in small spaces, like a powder room with a red vanity. Explore Cambria color palette to find the right red for your next project, then visit any Construction Resources showroom to obtain samples or see the beauty of Cambria reds and other tones for yourself.

The new South Carolina Facility of Atlanta Glass and MirrorConstruction Resources, Inc. is proud to announce the acquisition of a 4,500 square foot warehouse space which will become the new base of operations for Atlanta Glass and Mirror, Inc. in South Carolina. Construction veteran Danilo Garcia will oversee the facility and skilled craftsman Felton Tailor will be chief of installation for this satellite facility which provides mirrors, shower doors and frameless glass products for the home at competitive prices.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to grow Construction Resources and Atlanta Glass and Mirror into South Carolina,” says Jody Horne, one of the co-owners of Atlanta Glass and Mirror. “The economy has been tough, but this shows that we are fighting to not only survive but grow!”

Construction Resources’ move into South Carolina is fueled by other growth in the region, primarily by prominent Atlanta based home builders. These builders need supplies which Atlanta Mirror and Glass specializes in: mirrors, shower doors, frameless glass products, ventilated shelving, door locks, bath hardware, vinyl and wood exterior shutters, closet systems and other accessories for the home.

The new facility in Lexington is central to the state, and the facility will service the Charlotte, Charleston and Greenville markets in the near future. Its position at 2048 Industrial Boulevard is close to I-20, and means South Carolinians will come to know the swift delivery and professional installation quality that Construction Resources is known for in Alabama, Georgia and Florida..

Additional staff at the new facility include Chuck Wiggins, who will oversee inventory; Ed Garrett overseeing scheduling of product installation; and Missy Steele in sales. They are looking forward to expanding Atlanta Glass and Mirror, Inc.’s list of over 100 residential builder clients and over 50 commercial clients.

Also, Atlanta Kitchen operating under the Construction Resources umbrella has plans to expand its South Carolina Operations into the same facility. This will allow for maximized efficiencies and yield per square foot of operations.

Construction Resources, Inc. is a 42-year-old company that provides residential and commercial builders/remodelers, as well as homeowners with a one-stop shop for their kitchen and bath needs. The staff at Construction Resources, Inc. has the ability to provide products from several sister companies including Atlanta Marble Mfg., Atlanta Kitchen, Inc., and Atlanta Glass & Mirror, Inc. By offering a diverse selection, Construction Resources, Inc. allows customers to simplify their ordering, scheduling and vendor process by dealing with just one salesperson and company rather than multiple salespersons and companies. One of the many full size slabs you can view on our Facebook page!

Construction Resources has Georgia’s largest indoor slab gallery at 20,000 square feet of kitchen and bath counter surface options, but did you know that we have a full library of slabs available online, too? By being our friend on Facebook, you can view detailed pictures of our inventory, from granite countertops to limestone surfaces and beyond.

We provide this service so that clients looking for exotic materials can get a good idea of what full slabs look like before coming in, and the pictures are also easy to share with friends, family or remodeling professionals. We know that entering a space with over 3,000 slabs and 2,000 remnants can be daunting – but our customers don’t have to be overwhelmed by choice, they can look at the following galleries ahead of time and narrow their selection:

•             Dark Granite

•             Light/White Granite

If you’ve been checking out the DiY Network, you have probably come across Run My Renovation. In the show, homeowners give up all control over a renovation as every choice is made by online voters. These high quality stone countertops are available at Construction Resources, and were chosen by a landslide of online votes for the most important part of the kitchen.

In fact, over sixty percent of the voters chose Artisan Group’s Golden Crystal stone counter surface for the episode’s kitchen renovation. Cambria's Waterstone Collection, available at Construction Resources, is #2 on Kitchen & Bath Ideas Most Innovative Products.

Cambria's Waterstone Collection, available at Construction Resources, is #2 on Kitchen & Bath Ideas Most Innovative Products.

Cambria quartz countertops came in at number two in a list of the 30 most innovative kitchen and bath products in the February issue of Kitchen and Bath Ideas Magazine, a special publication of Better Homes and Gardens. Cambria was one of only two countertop surfaces featured in the article, which contained everything from new washing machines to high tech shower upgrades.

Cambria’s Waterstone Collection made the list because its appearance is  similar to granite and marble, but with extra strength. Its non-porous nature was also praised for not having to be sealed frequently like other surfaces. Reasons like these are why our customers love Cambria, and we carry a full selection to match demand.

This issue also has an inventive way to specialize kitchen island countertops. This is done by using different surfaces for different jobs in your island prep Read More→
