Construction Resources is Now Marble Institute of America Certified
Posted by: | Comments
Construction Resources, Inc./Atlanta Kitchen, Inc. is proud to announce that they have earned the coveted designation of Marble Institute of America (MIA) Accredited Natural Stone Fabricator. Construction Resources is now the second fabricator in Georgia to claim the accreditation, and joins a prestigious group of 55 total certified Natural Stone Fabricators nationally.
“This accreditation was more than passing a test – it is a bold sign that we have the skills and the dedication to our customers that few can match,” said Construction Resources president, Mitch Hires. “Marble Institute of America accreditation joins our exclusive offerings like Cambria Quartz, Artisan Group materials, Bonotti Italian Marble and Piedrafina as ways that we distinguish ourselves from other fabricators.”
In order to receive accreditation, Construction Resources/Atlanta Kitchen passed three phases. Phase one was the completion of a lengthy application that required Construction Resources to provide various documents and references which ensure that the company is in compliance with the ten standards of accreditation as laid out by the MIA Accreditation Commission. Phase two required Hires and Operations Manager David Lovelock to pass a 200-question multiple choice test. The exam tested their knowledge and application of material usage, installation, fabrication, restoration, care and maintenance, administration, legal/contracts and safety on the jobsite and in the shop. The third phase was a comprehensive site visit, which included a facility review, document review and one or more installation site visits. The sole purpose of the program is to increase the quality of fabrication and installation practices in the stone industry.
Garen Distelhorst, the Communications Director at the MIA said, “Construction Resources/Atlanta Kitchen is now able to proudly display the accreditation logo, which symbolizes that they are among the finest in the natural stone industry with respect to craftsmanship, safety and business practices.”

Atlanta Glass and Mirror Contributes to Aimee’s Wing
Posted by: | CommentsConstruction Resources company Atlanta Glass and Mirror is proud to have helped create Aimee’s Wing, the home addition for Aimee Copeland. This almost 2,000 square foot addition was made possible by the generosity of many builders, suppliers and contractors to help Aimee get around her home easier and begin rehabilitation. Aimee suffered a deep cut during a zip lining accident in May and then contracted a rare, flesh eating bacterial infection that lead to the amputation of one of her legs and both of her hands.
This addition was done “Extreme Makeover” style with a legion of volunteers and completed in less than one month. The addition features a study, bedroom, elevator and exercise studio, where Atlanta Glass and Mirror installed two mirror walls and towel racks. Atlanta Glass and Mirror also installed adjustable closet maid wire shelving in her bedroom closet and vanity mirrors in her bathroom. The home addition was spearheaded by Pulte Homes, who worked with Aimee to make sure the functionality and design met her needs. The Home Depot also helped remodel the great room and kitchen. New August Cambria Color Profiles Available First at Construction Resources
Posted by: | Comments
Construction Resources, Inc. is excited to introduce Berkeley and Rosslyn, the two newest color profiles of Cambria, to their slab gallery sooner than any other supplier in Georgia. Customers will be able to see full sized slabs of the two new color profiles in the Construction Resources’ newly expanded 1,000-slab capacity indoor gallery in as early as four to six weeks.
“The new Cambria color releases have been highly anticipated, and we are excited that the trucks are on their way now,” said Construction Resources president, Mitch Hires. “More than half the year has gone by with only four of the twelve new colors being revealed, so it is going to be a very colorful fall with six more Cambria quartz options for our customers.”
The two new colors both take their names from locations in England, and unlike previous unveilings, the colors are from different collections. Berkeley is from the Waterstone collection and is a pale, sandy color with hints of copper and bronze, which give it an uneven elegance. Rosslyn is part of the Jewel collection, and shines with striking metallic gold with a background of tan and taupe stone.
Both of the new profiles are pure, natural quartz with variations derived from natural stone patterns and crystals. Cambria is the only domestically-produced quartz countertop product, and its slabs are created in facilities that maximize conservation of water and reduction of waste. Cambria countertops are more durable than other stone options and are designed to be resistant to scratches and stains. Cambria does not require regular maintenance through sealing to keep up its appearance and is highly valued in both residential and commercial projects.
Construction Resources is a Cambria Lexus Partner and enjoys special benefits and additional supply reserves for any of the 102 Cambria color profiles currently available. Construction Resources carries Cambria, other environmentally-friendly countertops, traditional stone slabs and remnants at their 20,000 square foot indoor slab gallery. Countertops can be fabricated and installed in as little ten business days.

Design for a Kitchen with More Fun
Posted by: | Comments
Everyone loves creating something delicious in the kitchen, but cleanup is a different story. From spills that might stain to surfaces that show every fingerprint, cleaning up after cooking can be just as much work as preparing a feast. If you think ahead, you can design your kitchen to cut down on cleaning and maintenance so you spend more time having fun and making delightful meals.
You can check ahead to see how much work you will have to do by putting your materials to the test before installing them. For kitchen countertops, this means getting samples and subjecting them to common staining ingredients. Squeeze a fresh lemon, dribble some red wine and drop some olive oil on samples and see what happens. You’ll see stains on absorbent stones like marble and limestone, but tougher materials like Cambria quartz countertops will be resilient and stain-free.
You should also carefully consider the finishes. Brushed stainless steel hides fingerprints while still giving the strength and professionalism of steel. If you lean more towards wood, painted finishes have become more durable, especially catalytic lacquers.
Finally, practical flooring makes a huge difference. Porcelain tile floors are the most practical choice and offer plenty of styles and options to choose from. You can also go with hardwoods, but remember that the shinier the floor, the more scratches, dings and marks will show. You can go with naturally camouflaging marks with hand-hewn, distressed or reclaimed planks or you can fix it in the finish by applying a matte coat on top of your hardwoods to reduce the sheen.
