We love great design, and the touring the 2011 Decorator’s Show House and Gardens will be enough to inspire anybody to add some extra flair to his or her home.

This annual event raises money for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra – a stalwart of the Atlanta arts scene. This year’s house – the Lotus House – is perched atop a wooded estate at one of Buckhead’s premier addresses – West Wesley Road. The residents of Lotus House chose Atlanta as their home after moving from India, and the home’s style reflects diversity and multi-cultural styles, pulling from their own American and English architectural styles. Visitors have buzzed about the surprise elements of the home, such as an interior garden with a courtyard and calming lotus pond. Read More→

Construction Resources Cambria QuartzThe Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) recently moved into a new home on Peachtree Street across from the High Museum of Art, a strategic step-up from its hiding place downtown.

The space is striking, with red hues taking the lead. The countertops in the photograph were fabricated and installed by Construction Resources. Do you want this look in your own space? The tops featured in the photo are Cambria quartz in Cardigan Red and White Hall.

Why choose a quartz surface over a granite? Quartz is natural, doesn’t emit VOCs since it doesn’t require sealing and its nonporous, making it acceptable for use in commercial food preparation areas. Cambria quartz is manufactured in the United States, not China like many other products. Using a proprietary blend of pigment and resin, Cambria produces colors and textures that mimic other surfaces such as granite and marble, making it a very versatile choice. Read More→

construction resources cambriaWe are extremely honored to be featured in the April 2011 edition of Stone World magazine as a “true one-stop-shop.” The industry publication did an incredible article showcasing everything that we offer homeowners and contractors in its Fabricator Case Study section.

Mitch and Sonny Hires’ father probably never dreamed how big his marble manufacturing company would grow when he opened its doors in 1970, but grow it did. In 1997, the Hires brothers bought the company and began expanding with Atlanta Kitchen – our facility that specializes in countertops and solid-surface products like quartz and granite. Today, Mitch and Sonny are both 50/50 owners in Construction Resources, which is the parent company of Atlanta Marble Manufacturing, Atlanta Kitchen, Atlanta Glass and Mirror, and Atlanta Garage Doors and Fireplaces. chimney pot Drive through many of the tree-lined streets in Atlanta and you’ll see home after home that is beautiful, but could become outstanding by adding a unique feature or two. It’s really the smallest touches that can make the largest differences. For those homes whose roof lines aren’t shrouded by the shady oaks, a copper chimney pot is one way to make a unique statement.

The photo in this post is a European copper chimney pot called The Bishop, that we ordered for a project just outside of Atlanta. While specialty items like these aren’t available to browse in our showroom (like so many other products are!), we work with the best suppliers to find exactly what you want for your project.

Copper chimney pots are just one way to enhance your home. Visit the Construction Resources website or stop by the Decatur showroom for more inspiration and ideas.

Calcutta GoldA few weeks ago, AJC Intown Living ran the incredible story of the Driscolls – three generations each living in their own luxury condo at The Astoria at The Aramore in Buckhead. The photographs of the condos are just stunning, and we’ve heard several people admiring the kitchen and the countertops.

We’re proud to say that the marble countertops in the photo of Bob and Lee Driscoll’s elegant kitchen are an exquisite marble – Calcutta Gold – from Construction Resources.

In the Driscoll’s kitchen, the countertops provide an excellent contrast to the sleek dark cabinets, hood and stainless appliances. Calcutta Gold can also be used to compliment lighter cabinet shades and decor, creating a warm and traditional-feeling southern kitchen. The many different applications make it easy to see why it is an increasingly popular selection. Read More→
