The most recent project was just completed in Rockdale County. Atlanta Kitchen provided vanity tops for eight apartment units at Phoenix Pass, a project we worked on in conjunction with HomeAid Atlanta. Phoenix Pass just celebrated the grand opening of these single family apartments in Conyers which will provide help for temporarily homeless women and children. The apartments are designed to feel like home with a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Residents can stay up to two years, and will receive help with budgeting, job training and guidance in family care and management.

This apartment building is EarthCraft certified, meaning it meets stringent environmental and energy standards. Another apartment building is planned, which will also be EarthCraft certified.

The transitional housing will be a great asset to the Rockdale County area and Construction Resources is proud to be a part of the project.

Atlanta Kitchen, Inc., a subsidiary of Construction Resources, donated countertops and sinks to the duplex. To be specific, the company installed Staron and Corian solid surface countertops as well as stainless steel sinks with backplashes in all of the units. As one of over 50 trade partners for the project, Construction Resources was honored during the dedication ceremony.

The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, which was held on March 30th, signifies the opening the College Park duplex. It took a year of renovations and donations from the local home building industry, but Tapestry Youth Ministries will now be able to serve young mothers between the ages of 18 and 23 (with their existing facilities, the non-profit organization servers teen mothers aged 14 to 17).

Great job Atlanta Kitchen, Inc. Thanks to your generosity, many homeless women and children will be able to get on their feet and on the right track to living an independent lifestyle.

During the past four years, Construction Resources has donated and installed a combination of kitchen countertops, cultured marble vanity tops, sinks, mirrors and wire shelving for five transitional housing projects. Most recently, we partnered with HomeAid Atlanta on Phoenix Pass in Conyers. The 8-unit apartment building and community center is being designed to serve homeless single mothers with children. Atlanta Kitchen, Inc. has been a supporter of Project Playhouse for several years – as both a trade partner on a number of playhouses and as a volunteer, selling raffle tickets at the Playhouse Village. This year, the specialty provider of kitchen products has donated material and installation of granite countertops in Camp Tranquility, a playhouse being built by Dan DeJiacomo Custom Homes. Camp Tranquility is a whimsical mountain lodge featuring shiplap and cedar shake siding, a stacked stone front porch, chimney, swing, hardwood floors, chandelier, sink, undercounter refrigerator, faux fireplace with a 32” flat panel television, and lots of toys for endless fun. According to Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park staff, the VIPs in the Cadillac Club are impressed by the new Cambria countertops and frequently comment on them. For those of you that have not been to the Cadillac Club at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, the space offers VIPs a place to relax before and during an event. Located in the Lower West Plaza, the Cadillac Club features two outside patio areas, inside seating, premium food and beverage service with a full bar, live video feeds of events, special menu items and private restrooms.

The Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is located in Alpharetta, GA, just north of Atlanta in Fulton County. It is an award-winning venue that brings top entertainment and hosts community events year-round. Atlanta Kitchen was pleased to take part in  the upgrades at the Cadillac Club.

The bar probably would have been replaced with another wood countertop until the designers learned of Cambria and its many advantages. Atlanta Kitchen was working together with the same designers on another project for which Cambria was used, and the designers saw the strength, beauty and performance of Cambria on that project, and decided to use Cambria on the renovation of the Clubhouse at the Golf Club of Georgia.

The Cambria product is absolutely beautiful and the installation by Atlanta Kitchen was flawless. The new countertops have given the main bar area a facelift and according to Club staff, has drawn rave reviews and comments from both members and guests.

The Golf Club of Georgia is a golfer’s golf club, embracing the game’s traditions, presenting championship conditions, unmatched service, camaraderie and hospitality.

In 2006, Construction Resources joined hands with HomeAid Atlanta and builder captain John Willis Homes to construct the Community Advanced Practice Nurses facility, a health clinic providing physical, mental and preventive healthcare to homeless and economically disadvantaged Atlantans. Construction Resources generously provided sinks and countertops for this project.

A year later, in 2007, Construction Resources again partnered with HomeAid Atlanta on another project led by John Willis Homes. This project involved the renovation of a townhome for HomeStretch in Roswell, a program serving homeless families in the North Fulton area. Construction Resources was a key trade partner for the project, helping to successfully complete the renovation by providing cultured marble vanity tops, mirrors and wire shelving for the townhome unit.

The company also participated in a Cherokee County project in 2008 with HomeAid Atlanta and builder captain John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods. The project was for My House, a nonprofit organization operating a long term transitional home that provides a loving, safe and nurturing environment for homeless medically fragile infants.

Most recently, Construction Resources assisted HomeAid Atlanta with a duplex renovation in College Park for Tapestry Youth Ministries by providing new kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities. The newly renovated duplex will serve homeless young mothers and their babies.

Construction Resources will also participate in HomeAid Atlanta’s newest project for Phoenix Pass in Conyers. For this project, HomeAid, in partnership with Manor Homes and Horizon Home Builders, is constructing an eight-unit apartment building and a community center which will serve homeless families, particularly single mothers with children. Construction Resources will be providing eco-friendly countertops for the project, which will be EarthCraft House certified.

In addition to showing continued support for transitional housing projects, Construction Resources and its staff have regularly contributed to HomeAid Atlanta’s fundraising activities. Mitch and Sonny Hires of Construction Resources have participated in almost every Fairway to Haven Golf Classic hosted by HomeAid Atlanta by registering a foursome to play in the tournament. They have also provided services and products supporting Project Playhouse, in addition to volunteering their time to sell raffle tickets in the Playhouse Village.

The company created kitchen and bathroom countertops for the new home earlier this year for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Florida Bath & Surfaces spent just five hours early one morning installing countertops fabricated from designer renderings. This process usually takes about 10 days!
According to Schoen, President, “It was definitely a little more difficult, but there was total cooperation. We had 50 to 60 people in the house at once and everyone was pitching in. We knew it was a good thing.”

The Cambria quartz kitchen countertops and LivingStone bathroom countertops installed in the home are valued at $12,000. Cambria and LivingStone donated their materials and Florida Bath & Surfaces donated their time.

The company’s entire staff was excited and enthusiastic about the build, and the company was proud to take part in the effort to put a deserving local family in a safe, beautiful new home.

Construction Resources donated $24,000 in fabrication and installation of countertops, shower doors and bath mirrors in the home.
