Looking for a sustainable countertop? Reclaimed wood is a great choice. It complies with LEED standards and is the most eco-friendly of countertops. Wood is one of the more sanitary products for the kitchen, with inherent properties to protect it from bacteria build-up.

Wood countertops do require some maintenance, including regular mineral oil treatments. And because wood oxidizes over time, your wood countertops may change color as they age. • Clean up spills immediately – Use an absorbent cloth followed by First Line Clean & Restore
• Daily cleaning – use warm water with a few drops of mild or antibacterial dishwashing detergent. Rinse the surface thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Don’t use abrasive dry or soft cleaners or those containing harsh chemicals like ammonia.
• Hot, Hot Hot – Granite can take hot pans, but it is best to place on pans on a trivet or hot pad. Avoid placing anything with hot cooking oils on the counter top.
• Keep the cutting board – Avoid cutting directly on granite. Although it won’t hurt the granite, it will certainly dull your knives.
• Set the table – Protect your investment from food and beverage spills by using placemats and coasters

The most recent project was just completed in Rockdale County. Atlanta Kitchen provided vanity tops for eight apartment units at Phoenix Pass, a project we worked on in conjunction with HomeAid Atlanta. Phoenix Pass just celebrated the grand opening of these single family apartments in Conyers which will provide help for temporarily homeless women and children. The apartments are designed to feel like home with a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Residents can stay up to two years, and will receive help with budgeting, job training and guidance in family care and management.

This apartment building is EarthCraft certified, meaning it meets stringent environmental and energy standards. Another apartment building is planned, which will also be EarthCraft certified.

The transitional housing will be a great asset to the Rockdale County area and Construction Resources is proud to be a part of the project.
