When You’re at Home, Where do You Watch Football?

Football season is in full swing. When you’re at home, where do you watch the game? On your living room couch amidst the hustle and bustle of the rest of the family, or do you have a private oasis to root for your favorite team?

If you have an extra room or basement in your house, you have the perfect space to create a personalized media room. Here are a few ideas to get you started, and as always, our design experts can help you out with your project.

Paint the walls in your favorite team colors. Painting each wall in Steelers’ black, red, yellow and blue may be a bit overwhelming; but two or three walls in a neutral, white or grey and one or two walls in a team color or two that really pops can make a huge impact. Or, try painting stripes of varying widths in your team colors on a neutral base. If you want to really want to have your friends and neighbors talking, install a “pigskin” leather accent wall. Leather walls are a luxurious, soft and warm addition to any interior. They are great for acoustics, so would be perfect for when your crowd gets too loud, and can be upholstered in the color and look of your choosing.

Build a bar out of dark wood or top it with Cambria quartz in your team’s colors. With more than 100 colors of Cambria, you are bound to find the perfect hue. Line the bar with several bar stools so your guests have plenty of spots to relax and chat.

Speaking of seating, make sure that you have plenty of comfortable seating for your football friends. Make old couches new (and spotless) with removable, easy to clean slip covers, or invest in a new, comfy couch in pigskin-ish football colored leather couches. Surround your space with extra end tables to hold snacks and cozy, overstuffed chairs.

Mount a large, flat screen tv above your bar, or on the opposing wall, surrounded by the seating described above. If your budget allows, mount additional flat screen tvs on adjacent walls to show a number of different games simultaneously.

Lastly, build the tribute to your favorite team(s) that you have always envisioned by displaying your favorite team memorabilia (framed team prints, jerseys and other souvenirs) around the room. And to add even more fun and keep yourself and your friends in the friendly, competitive spirit, bring down a foosball and pool table!
